Your Top 5 Lists

Postby StephOKingston » Sat May 03, 2014 5:30 am

So since a lot of us are powering through Top 5 of Death right now I imagine there's a lot of people who want to share their own lists. Since we missed the chance to do it when the episodes are new, let's have a thread where you can tell us your Top 5 lists! For example:

My top 5 TV Shows from Childhood
5. Radio Active-goofy Canadian show about a high school radio station.
4. Digimon-ended up being my first foray into fanfiction
3. The Magic School Bus-awesome show that taught me all about science
2. Sailor Moon-My first exposure to anime which slightly led to the other anime shows on this list.
1. Pokemon-What's to say? I still play the games and enjoy them. Can't watch the show anymore though. Bye Bye Butterfree still makes me cry.

Let's see your lists people!

An excellent idea Steph!
My top 5 tv shows I watched as a child. My first 4 came very easy but number 5 was difficult.
5. Inspector Gadget
4. Doug
3. Saved by the Bell
2. Power Rangers
1. Eureka's Castle

My honorable mentions are DuckTales/Darkwing Duck and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers and Muppet Babies. All which could be swapped out for 5 at any time.

Keeping with the trend my Top 5 Childhood TV Shows:

5: Dragon Ball Z- First real exposure to anime
4: The Secret World of Alex Mack: normal kid gets super powers after freak accident? I'm in. Also I had a mad crush on Larisa Oleynik.
3:Power Rangers- Green/ White Ranger FTW
2: Spider-Man: The Animated Series Superheros, a sweet theme song (When I learned how to play it I was ridiculously excited) and a wise cracking main character.
1: Saved by the Bell: To this day I can still sing the entire theme song. Also , little known fact, the pilot/first season for SbTB, then called Good Morning, Miss Bliss was set in Indianapolis, IN.

honorable mentions: GhostWriter, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and Legends of the Hidden Temple

*Disclaimer, I didn't grow up with cable, it was a sad childhood.*

My Top 5 Childhood TV Shows
    5. Power Rangers (beating the crap out of your friends with plastic toys and having racial arguments because you couldn’t be the black ranger or your friend couldn’t be the yellow ranger. That show was wicked messed up.)
    4. Rocko’s Modern Life (Started showing it to my daughter and quickly turned it off that shit was sooo inappropriate, the things you miss as a child…)
    3. Pokemon (who didn’t watch Ash and his crazy adventures?)
    2. Batman: The Animated Series
    1. X-Men (I remember taping over an X-Files show that my parents had done, so that we didn’t miss it when they did a one off event during primetime. It was about the origin of Wolverine and the girlfriend at the time came back and then they all got attacked by psychic monsters. Ya it was incredible… at the time.)

Honorable Mention:
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Actually I didn't :( I was in 8th grade when Pokemon came to the US. At that time I was discovering that boys were very time consuming and I was lost to the world until college :(

Well I guess there is Netflix now... ,but really it's hard to watch childhood cartoons as an adult I think. Maybe it's just me? If you want to see some awesomely bad episodes watch the OG My Little Pony, then say to yourself WTF is going on?

*What I really need in my life is a play made out of Apathy and Other Small Victories
Hands down one of my favorite openings to a book I've ever read.
I was stealing saltshakers again. Ten, sometimes twelve a night, shoving them in my pockets, hiding them up my sleeves, smuggling them out of bars and diners and anywhere else I could find them. In the morning, wherever I woke up, I was always covered in salt. I was cured meat. I and become beef jerky. Even as a small, small child, I knew it would one day come to this. .........

Can't recommend this book enough!

True Story about your #2 pick. I played this song for my mom on mother's day the year it came out and she listened to the whole thing completely expressionless and then when it was done said to my hopeful and loving face, "That's a really annoying song..." and then just got up and left the house. Parenting Fail.
